Good afternoon everyone. I put this coin away when I got it back in change from my bank. The edge reminds me of a diamond cut. Almost like a worker would carve or chisel something by hand. It is the same side as a regular penny. The edge is not rough or coarse. And it weighs 2.5 grams. So how could this have been done and is it listed anywhere? Here are some images and I thank you in advance for having a look....

The edges look battered. On the obverse and reverse, I can see some Die Deterioration going on as well.

It does not seem like the coin would have been in circulation long enough to be battered like I said I got it back from the bank last year in July or so and the edges are smooth and aren't rough or anything like it was beat on it's really odd.I don't know what to think... coins have been in dryers for years and years and I have never seen one look like that especially in this little amount of time not that I am disagreeing with anybody on their opinions but it just seems odd like I said...but thanks for the thoughts.

hmm the next time I accidently have a coin in the drier, I will have to inspect it for reference.

I don't think this is a pendant coin (I can't see anyone wanting an LSC as a pendant and as previously stated "edges look battered"). below are two 1889 cents one I believe might have been in a pendant; smooth/rounded edge.

Dryer Coins are created in commercial dryers. There is an internal and external drum. The coin winds up in between the two drums where it can roll freely without clothing interference and load after load after load. They get beaten into submission pretty quickly. Especially a nice soft zinc LSC.

Pretty sure you have one there.

This penny doesn't have a rounded edge though. It is more cut or chiseled. The rim isn't damaged, bent or blown out as if someone has beat on it or if it may have been bounced or banged off anything either. I appreciate everybody's help on this and here are a few more pictures I will probably just take it in to see if there's anything unique about it. Thanks everyone...

@skippy, while the rim on this cent is damaged (as opposed to being a mint error), I would more likely attribute it to being "spooned". This produces an oversized rim like Dryer Coins exhibit, but the rim tends to be faceted from the individual hits.

If it was deliberate they sure do have a lot of time on their hands because it's a pretty time-consuming task with what they did and how they did it, and if it was done in a dryer of that magnitude I thought it might show some heat staining or something to that effect on it which it doesn't and it still has its luster pretty much. But anyways, I thought it was still pretty neat looking and I thank you all for your input. Have a good night...
