I have two US 19th & 20th Century Type Sets that are BOTH full, inherited from my father. How would I go about finding the value of these sets. Do I need to get the coins graded and if so who does that and how much does it cost to grade a coin? From my own research it looks like the 1799 and 1798 Busts may be worth quite a lot along with the Barbers, Seated Liberties and possibly the flying eagles. I also have a folder with other coins. Any advice is appreciated.

Tough call from these pics, but I'm thinking the best chance at high values might be the Bust Dollar and Liberty Seated dollarCan you give us close-up pics of both sides of these coins? to the CCF!

I went to a coin dealer with about 100 Morgan dollars and he gave me silver melt price, someone told me he ripped me off. That's why I decided to come here to this forum to ask about these sets to acquire some education. Where do I go to get an honest grade and how much does it cost to grade? I will send close up of the ones you ask for within the next couple hours. Thanks for more guidance.

If you plan on selling, then having those already mentioned graded and slabbed would mean that selling (online especially) would bring in more of a profit for you. If you are not planning on selling, then there is no reason to get them graded unless its what you prefer in how you want to display/store them.

Let's start with close-ups of the two early dollars. That will tell us a lot. The Bust half, quarter and dime would also hold interest.

Do not go to a dealer. Yes, there are honest dealers, but you obviously ran into one that, was less than ideal (as long as the silver dollars were not junk (holed, extreme wear, etc)).
Do NOT clean the coins. Do not handle with bare fingers (oil and electric impulse from you will damage the coins). ALL about condition and rarity - which this forum will help you with.

Please let me know if these are clear enough pictures I am taking them through the plastic mount and the mount has dust. Please let me know before I proceed with more pics. Thank you for any advice you can give me regarding possible worth of the set so at least I have an idea before letting them go.

One problem is that we can't tell if the scratches are on the case or on the coins. From the pics thus far, they are marginally acceptable, but probably good enough for now. It does look like these coins have been cleaned which greatly affects the value.

I understand that each coin and condition of it has it's own value, however I'll be selling these two sets as sets. Is it at all possible to give a me ballpark of do not sell each set for less than? I have many coins in a folder too with columbian exposition half dollars, hawaiian coins, california diamond jubilees, canadian coins, many others that are similar to what's in these sets, some marked proof, some very worn and dirty. I'm overwhelmed.

That's going to be tough to evaluate without actually seeing the coins, but if you are not in a hurry we can give you a ballpark and depending where you are located perhaps suggest someone to take them to. Can you post a close up of the Trade dollar, that looks like it may be a proof, which could be fairly rare. Thank You.

Actually, if you want to liquidate you can send them to Great Collections which is an auction house. They will take care of getting them graded and they have sales every week. They will even give you a generous cash advance. I have used them to sell my coins, and recommend them.

I agree pics of the Trade dollar and the Seated Liberty dollar would be great. From the first photo the seated liberty looks to be in pretty good condition, at least it doesn't look harshly cleaned like many of the others
