I received this lovely 1909 VDB Lincoln Cent in the mail today. It is full red with great color and intense luster. The color makes it hard to photograph without getting some darker looking areas on the obverse. It has some little ticks here and there, but looks to be a very nice coin. I'm trying to decide if it's worth sending in for grading. I have taken photos in both artificial and natural light. That's a piece of lint on the bottom of Lincoln's bust and the spot at 7:00 on the reverse is just reflection and not a rim ding. Thanks for your opinions. Paul Bulgerin

No opinion on the grade, but take a closer look at the reverse rim at 7 o'clock. I don't think that's a reflection. I think you may have an unlisted rim Cud. There is one rim Cud listed for 1909 VDB, but not anywhere near the location of your coin's possible rim Cud.

fortcollins - I've taken some close up shots of the 7:00 position and it does look like it might be a rim Cud.

I have sent an email to cuds-on-coins.com with a link to this post. We'll see what happens.

I am submitting the photos to cuds-on-coins later today (when my daughter shows me how to create a zip file!) and let you know if they think it is a Cud, lamination or ? Thanks for all the responses to my original post.

I'm not seeing anything keeping this one from MS66RD

I am still weighing whether or not to submit it for grading.
Several years ago I sent a 1909 VDB to NGC and it received an MS-66 Red grade. This one looks pretty close to that one in quality.
