First thing I thought of was Willy Wonka and those Golden Tickets! This stunt might get people interested in coin collecting in general.

Maybe the Mint will start adding on sub Mints all over the US. Then we could have Mint marks of every state.

I just want to find one W mint mark quarter of any kind with this release. A $5000 reward would be nice though.

Don't seem to get "new" rolls of coins at work. I keep thumbing through them though!

It appears that should I be lucky enough to find the first one, I would NOT be eligible for the cash reward. The rules state that one must be already associated with PCGS to qualify.

Makes sense that a PCGS reward would be limited to PCGS members. That said if you think you found the first one I would join and send it for a 10x reward

I doubt I will find the first W quarter, but my bank is IN Lowell, and I hope they were extra generous with their allotment of W quarters. I bought 15 rolls of quarters over the weekend and found about 3/4 of a roll's worth of 2019-P quarters. No such luck on the W but I think if I stuck to getting random rolls from my bank, I may have some luck.

At least one person on CoinTalk has already found one and others have been reported, and they know about the reward. I'm sure by now the coins are either on their way or already at PCGS That $5,000 reward is basically gone.
I have to wonder how many Lowell W mint quarters they have been sent by people trying to get the reward? Something tells me they will earn a lot more in submission fees than the reward will cost them.
And if they are slow in announcing the reward has been won, how many MORE submissions they will get. It is to their advantage to delay the announcement a couple weeks.

Beyond the "first discovery", there are "first week of discovery" and "early find" (45 days), so they'd almost have to announce when the first submission was received if these other pedigrees will have any integrity at all. I'm wondering how many will be received on the first day, since the $5000 will be split among them.

I don't really think those pedigrees will have any real overall value to the coins. Weather you find one on day one or day 45 at the end of the day it's still the same coin. Why pay more for the special label? Further I think it will be interesting to see what these raw coins trend for in the next issue of Red Book. I bet people buying them now at $100+ will be kicking themselves.

While the quarters themselves won't differ one from another, the labels will add an artificial value (non-inherent to the coin itself) to the quarters and have some people who like collecting slabs salivating.
I think the REAL experts at PCGS reside in their marketing department!
