Was going through my collection of hand me down coins and found this one with a slight offset.....

Missing reeds on rim as well.

Worthless because of no date?

@switcher, first welcome to CCF. Second, here is a link to the tutorial on uploading pictures to this site. With regard to your question, I think that the value of a misaligned die example goes up with the amount of offset. Not having a date may decrease the value some.

This is an off center dime. Struck without the collar. (thus the missing reeds)

I decided to do some photoshopping(verified science), 70s or 80s pretty much matches the time frame of the entire collection. Here are some overlaying and comparison pictures. There is not much to go by but looks like a 7 to me, it appears like the hat of a 7 instead of the curve of the 8.

Nice coin! I can't tell the date, but it's a cool error!

A) Nice off-center strike dime
B) You'll never figure out the date
C) https://minterrornews.com/ has a generic price guide in each issue. It's pretty general but is at least a starting point. Starts at page 102 of the current issue (#48) with off-center coins on page 117... unfortunately, Roosevelt dimes are about the only coin not listed in that chart... still $40 seems about the lowest value for 10-15% off center in XF.

The P mintmark is a clue that it is a post 1980's dime. (The year the mintmark P was started on several denominations of U.S. Coins. (Except cents)
