This DDO is very common, and examples can be found on ebay auctions pretty much every week. Most are pretty easy to spot as there are some obvious die chips that occur on LIBERTY in most die stages. But...

First, be aware that there is one die that has very similar die chips in LIBERTY, so make sure it is actually the DDO.

Second, it's common, so good to resist the temptation to overpay when you see one as a potential cherrypick. One went yesterday as a "chrrypick" for $80, although I've had fully attributed examples for sale on ebay and they didn't sell at anything near that price. The current uncirculated example I have up at $67.50 has been viewed 748 times but remains unsold months after listing it. So unless you're looking at a solid MS-64 or better it would be easy to bid over what you could sell the coin for. Just a warning.

And lastly, if you want to hunt for the rare one, here is an example. This is the CONECA stage-A, which has no die chips in the LIBERTY. Wexler does not even list a stage this early, and this is the one that will command a real premium over the abundant other stages. And just for the record, I cherrypicked it off ebay for $23 including shipping a couple days ago.

Happy hunting!

Excellent pick in a very nice EDS.
I came across the "false" one about a month ago in a roll and was patting myself on the back until I realized the chips in BERTY was the only similarity with this variety.

Is that a die scratch over LUR on the rev? (Thanks since no images of the reverse are on CC or VV and it doesn't show one in that location on DD.)
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

In hand the section over the LUR looks more like a minor lamination issue. But there are lots of solid markers on the reverse. Pretty much those that are listed on Wexler's stage A are there plus more (the one from the O of ONE to the R of PLURIBUS is the lightest) with the big exception being the missing die chip in LIBERTY on the obverse.

Nice. I've seen some of those without the chips as well. One was slabbed MS65 Red. I watched it and it got scooped up within a couple days. If I'm not mistaken there are still markers visible on the reverse. The 65 Red was 99 or best offer.

Here's another coin I'm not going to buy (because it's not a FS) but it's a really nice DDR and possibly rare. One of you may enjoy it!

Note on LIBERTY you can see where the broken posts happened, the die is leaving striation lines on those devices. So the wear and breakdown is starting to happen that causes these post to break down. Without seeing this example, we would never know what caused the broken posts to happen.
