is there any way to take photos out of the holder? the holder is throwing off being able to assertain the surface originality. to me it looks like AU53 maybe 55 details (cleaned)

Yea I'll take some new pics if it'll help. For the record I haven't cleaned any of my coins. Always possibility of a previous owner cleaning it though.

Au55. Sharp details but no luster.
Rest in Peace

What does over dipped mean and about how much y'all think it might be worth? I have no interest in selling any of my coins, more curious than anything.

overdipped means that it was dipped in an acid solution too long damaging the coin's original surfaces. I don't think this is an overdipped coin. in this condition, I believe the coin is worth $40.

First,

Your coin's obverse shows minor wear on the hair, cotton leaves, cotton blossoms, and cheek. The bag marks and contact marks on the eyes, cheek, and chin and a rim ding at 2 o'clock are consistent with circulation. The reverse shows wear on the eagle's talons (eagle's left, our visual right, especially), outer right wing feathers (our visual left), lower feathers, and head. Contact marks on the "F: from OF and to the right of the bow are consistent with circulation.

I think the old cleaning and possibly also the obverse contact marks would earn a details rating. IMHO, this is a solid AU details coin, with the numerical rating around AU-53 to AU-55. Regardless of a grade or details, the 1891-S isn't worth the cost of slabbing at any grade below MS-64.

The photos aren't quite clear enough to do a VAM attribution, but you have a far date and high "S" mm coin. I think VAM-10 is fairly likely.

Thank you for sharing your coin!
