That is interesting. *Without removing it*, can you tell if it is resting on the coin or rather is struck into the coin?

It's part of the coin it does not move or wiggle.. under the scope looks like it's part of coin..

Hard to tell but it looks like some of the metal above it has been gouged out and moved south.
Nice close up pictures.
EDIT: can we get a close up picture but at an angle?

Wouldn't we see where the metal came from tho? Scrape marks or such?

Still looks like the metal has been gouged out where the zinc rot showing its ugly head. I could be wrong

That is a fairly common place for small die chips and die breaks, and I think it's just that. Sometimes referred to as a 'beehive' break when they fully develop.

Weird die chip. (anorexia nervosa?) LOL May have started out as a die crack that is turned into a break, without a chip? Hey I'm Chipless. LOL I've not seen that before.
