Nice find! Are you sure it's not something else? The shape doesn't look like a LAM to me. Maybe it's a planchet flaw. it also looks like the coin was struck after the error was present. Can you provide a weight please?

Would you be willing to post a photo of the reverse?

That's an interesting one, for sure. It's quite the divot.

I agree with @ch27 that it looks more like a planchet flaw, but regardless it is a pretty sweeet find!

@Coinfrog, I bought $125 in face of mostly Unc. copper cents at FV from the LCS and am searching through it.
@Coinhunter you may be right let me go weigh it.

I am thinking it's been Struck Through. Not a Lamination error.

Here is the opposite area that would be affected if it were PSD:

The rim show some damage on the reverse.

If this is a struck through, then how could it have happened before the strike? It would have had to be struck twice. I'm thinking planchet flaw.

It kind of reminds me of acid from an dropper issue. But I'm still undecided at this point. It can't be a lamination as they run more in a straight line. The devices of the date aren't altered like a struck through would cause.
