My grandparents had a color TV, so we kids went to their house to watch .

We had to keep quiet, which has always been a chore for me. But I got through it and it was great.

I wasn't born yet for a couple years, so not much at all. I'm sure my parents were watching intently.

I was 5. I remember watching a lunar landing on TV at my aunt and uncle's house, but I'm not sure if it was Apollo 11 or one of the later Apollo missions.

I was working 12 hr shifts in the evenings making burn-in modules for integrated circuits at Texas Instruments in Dallas. I'd go out to my car on lunch break and listen to the moon landing news on my radio.

Just three months later I headed off to Ft Campbell, Kentucky for basic training. The moon landing had become a distant memory.

I was walking down the street shooting at birds with my bb gun, it held like 100 or so bb's. It was weak tho and was only effective on soft-shelled birds like robins. The bb's would just bounce off birds like blackbirds and such. Today, if a kid did that, within 20 minutes a platoon of cops would arrive, along with child protective services and a police psychologist.

I don't remember watching the moon landing tho, which I wish I was and could remember it. btw, if I had been tasked to be the 2nd man in the lander to step on the moon, I would have pushed the first guy to the side at the door, rushed past him and clumsily slid down the ladder or otherwise just belly-flopped or fell onto the surface of the moon.

ok, I would have been fired and been disgraced for the rest of my life and forever but, in any case, I STILL WOULD HAVE BEEN THE FIRST PERSON TO STEP (sort-of) ON THE MOON and nobody would be able to take that away from me in the history books. History would have forgiven me... I would just claim I was afflicted with "space sickness". It would have been an uncomfortable ride back to Earth with Neil giving me the evil eye the whole time tho.

Just spotted this - a few days too late!

I've dug out my 1969 diary and the entry for July 20 states "A fairly good day. Watch Men on Moon."

I do remember my parents waking me up and watching Neil Armstrong on TV. I think that what impressed me most was that we could hear everything the astronauts said - but I had difficulty picking up our local AM pop station on my transistor radio in the evenings!
