Not much of a toned coin expert, actually not at all really. LCS guy asked me if I like them & said meh let's see. Pulled this out & said $22 bucks so I took it. Just a hole filler for me anyways. Worst case it's fake toning which doesn't bother me really. Colors are a bit drastic in photo from lighting & angle of my photo. Probably AT but I still think it looks nice to me, just asking thanks ;)

I'm not a Morgan expert by any means. She looks MS to me, but toning hides a lot. My personal opinion is that this is AT since I don't see any pull-away.
All in all, I think a very good buy at $22 for a Morgan / toning fan.
Edit: I may have to rethink my toning comment. This could be a coin that sat in a bag for years and developed this color. Hard to tell. But, the "bubbles" on the obv may indicate use of toning gel.

It's not market acceptable toning but for 22 bucks its not really a big deal, especially if you like it Quote: This could be a coin that sat in a bag for years and developed this color. Nature can do anything that man can so there is a minuscule chance nature did it, but that one is almost certainly man made. Either way it's not market acceptable

I agree.
Still a decent buy toning or not.

Figured it wasn't natural, (could be nah) just grabbed it anyways. Used to blue polished stuff I attempted forging in my oven & looks similar. For price & didn't have any other of that year, ok. Is nice looking overall, just a hole filler for now. Thx ;)

I agree with the "bubbles" comment above. Genuine old-timey rainbow toning is rarely so similar on both sides.

Yep one does not usually see double sided toning with rainbow color. I think this Morgan had okay toning that was natural and was supplemented with AT on top of it, the blue is just not a color you see in a great quantity - usually. Looks almost like it was sped up through a wash or gassing. It could also be album toning.

The purple-blue almost certainly is AgCl residue. My guess is that the coin was overdipped, and somebody attempted to retone it by submerging it in Clorox. This could leave the AgCl residue, especially in areas where it would pool near the rim. The drip marks like the circular one on the neck could come from washing the coin.
At $22, you bought it almost for cull/junk silver price, so you did well.

Unfortunately, the toning is artificially applied.
