Cuds do, Rim Cuds do, but chips usually are no premium as they are very common to find on the single squeeze dies they are making today. Here is why Cuds are one the outside edge of the die: Note the die on the right. When a portion breaks off the die, that is what they call a Cud. What do they look like? Notice this obverse Die Cud. Also not the reverse. Because of the missing area on the die obverse die, the reverse die will show weakness of the strike opposite the Cud area.

I was trained with yes and no answers. It took me years to learn what I'm teaching new ones here. So I want to speed up the process. If you want to learn a lot more. Just click on the link: CoopHome On there you will find a lot of threads with different subjects that have hundreds of images. One thread I counted on Machine Doubling, I have 201 images on it. So just click on the blue CoopHome and it will take you to page two.

The "spread" you're seeing on MONTICELLO is Die Deterioration. Notice that the flow of the affected area points directly toward the rim. That usually indicates Die Deterioration because it's a radial spread.

Quote:so do Cuds and die chips add any value? Generally speaking, yes Cuds add value but typically no die chips do not.
