The silver one is a 196_? The edges are uniformly flat and tapered the whole edge. The blackish one could be fire damage but it has a major lump on his head. Just curious what you guys have to say

Try taking your pictures directly over the coins and as close as you can and show both sides. Some type of PMD. The silver one is worth more the 10 cents.

@fender, for sure the one missing rims was sanded or ground down after it left the mint. When we see coins posted to CCF with unusual bumps or deformations, we typically ascribe this to excessive heat, such as from a fire. The black discoloration on that '67 also could be indicative of the dime spending time in a fire.

If the 90% silver dime still weighs 2.5 grams, the melt value would be around $1.18. If some of the metal has been removed, the value would be about 47¢ per gram of 90% silver. A silver buyer would pay less than melt value for this coin, in most cases, so your coin is worth 75¢ to $1.

The clad coin is discolored by damage (fire?) and not worth saving as USSID18 said. Just worth 10¢.

Cool deal fellas. Thanks for the help as always. I figured the black dime was burned or something but wasnt certain. The flying saucer dime goes to my melt/scrap bag then. Wonder why so.eone would do such a thing to a poor defenseless and beautiful silver dime? I have some 1940's roosevelts that are in pristine condition (full bands on the torch) even

If the edge is showing copper on the non full date, then it is probably 1965-1969 a clad dime.
