Hi all!
Just received today, paid approx 120 euro but now I think this is fake. Weight 7.7 grams, I can not find any coins of this type with wide rim like this coin. I also notice circular marks from the die polishing - see the third photo.
Any opinion is welcome.

Well, the rims do look to be a bit pronounced, and the left rosette on the reverse seems set rather high. But with almost 96 million of these being struck, the production rate was such that many, many dies & collars were heavily used, repaired, then used some more. Consequently, there're just an awful lot of minor variations, making it a difficult proposition to detect modern fakes based solely on visual cues related to the design.

This specimen looks to be more or less XF in condition. My personal opinion is that the price guide values in this grade tend to be grossly inflated, but that can be an incentive to churn out counterfeits....

Well, if a bunch that have the same identifiable characteristics are all turning up at once in online auctions, that'd be a "red flag" in and of itself.

120 euros? Cost of production of a fake / fantasy is less than 1 Euro!

I would highly recommend you to ask for your money back. I don't recall seeing such a coin.

From that ebay link, I have noticed a lot of Chinese fake coins coming from Netherlands and Spain.
