I've had this sitting on my desk while following Grape's struck through thread. I really don't know if this is struck through or a big old lam but doesn't seem like PSD.

Comments welcome so I can label this thing up right.

1945 Lincoln Wheat cent possible struck through?

Good to see I can be of inspiration! I lean towards a lamination for a few reasons. The first the trench created has natural jagged and random edges along it, at either end it tends to have a notch and taper off. Third, the Y of LIBERTY is weaker, which indicates a lam.

It could be a toothpick? But I feel it is struck through if the reverse looks normal.

Looks too smooth to be a lamination IMO. Maybe a struck through?

Reverse shows nothing indicating a hit, but I would think that would be true of either lam or struck through.

I understand Grapes reasoning, however, IMO, the "trench" appears to be deeper than most delaminations I have encountered

Edited: Puts me on the struck through band wagon.

Struck through in my opinion. Definitely deeper than a LAM and has no pushed out metal anywhere.

I am leaning towards a Struck Through error, since it's deep.

If struck-through then I don't think the Y or the edge of Abe's shoulder would be visible in the bottom of the defect. For sure IN has been damaged so perhaps this is a combination of a couple things?

I'd say strike through. I would expect a lamination to show an uneaven/rough surface in the bottom of the trench. I would also not expect a lamination to have such vertical sides to the trench.

It looks like damage to me, but it's just my humble opinion. Members above are probably way more closer to the truth than I am!

Cheers,

My only concern is the continuation of the shoulder through the indent.
My opinion, PSD.
