Must have been a slow day at the office for the RCM... it took four - yes four - e-mails over a period of three hours for my RCM rep to introduce this month's offering. Each e-mail seemed extremely long-winded, as though the RCM is encouraging reps to "craft meaningful stories" for each coin being released. I think the RCM needs to go back to the basics on releases... "pictures are worth a thousand words". I really, really, really don't want to go home to read an additional four long-winded messages after handling a couple of hundred emails at the office! More to follow on the releases...

More on the releases from today's spam, er... e-mail release: - $250 High Relief D-Day, $2499 (admittedly, this was "released" last week, my rep just sent additional photos). - $500 5kg Brilliant Mastery in Canada, $10,699 or "$1783 with 6 easy pays!" - $200 Gold Peace dollar, $2899 - $1 Silver Peace dollar, $129 - 10oz $100 Winston Churchill: The Roaring Lion, $999 - 2oz $10 Pulsating Maple Leaf, $199 - 5 coin silver Maple Leaf Fractional Set: O-Canada, $224 - Gold & Silver $10 Yin & Yang Set, $2888 - $10 50th Anniversary of the Official Languages Act, $50 - 6-coin "Real Shapes" Subscription "Coin" Set, $329 each Subscription Continuations: - 2oz Majestic Birds in Motion - Great Horned Owl, $189 - Holiday Gift Set, $21 - Canadian Festivities, $49 - Zodiac Series: Libra, $54 Yawn... I just cannot bring myself to spend these sums of money "knowing" that 6 months down the line, we'll see rapid depreciation of value. Disappointed that all of this took 4 emails.

Thank you Wandering Eskimo for the list. I love the Peace dollar design. Rumour (according to another thread citing another forum) says this design will be used on 2020 bullion coins as well; if this is true, I will probably get the bullion ones instead. Is this true? The Yin & Yang idea is also great. In fact, my Chinese heritage says it's genius. Who would have thought using silver for Yin and gold for Yang!

CC&C has jumped the gun with Sept. releases by letting VIP customers order the "Real Shapes" coins. Most likely these coins are commissioned by Steve Bromberg.

Quote:- $200 Gold Peace dollar, $2899 - $1 Silver Peace dollar, $129 Wandering Eskimo: I'm not sure why you listed these too 'coins' in this manner. To what I've seen, these are both MEDALS with no dollar amounts listed. Therefor, I'm thinking... 1oz gold Peace & Liberty Medal, $2899 & 1oz silver Peace & Liberty Medal, $129 As I understand it, there is also a 10oz silver medal coming out too.

@atticguy: The new 2020 Peace releases do carry denominations and QEII's portrait on the obverse. They meet the definition of NCLT coin.
The medal version of the design was issued in late 2018 with a 2019 date.

@AlexA You know... I wouldn't mind lapel pins, brooch, fasteners, key chains... Just keep the monarch's head and a denomination off the item.
Monnaie de Paris does a great business in medals, jewellery and objects (think Silver Carousel) without forcing the item into being NCLT.
@MoneyPenney
You are probably right about the commissioned item, I understand these are the replacement for the "Big Coin" series which, after 5 years, appears to have hit the creative & sales wall... only 3 years too late. Real Shapes will probably be reissued over 4-5 years in Selective Plating, Colourized, GITD, maybe even a Murano or Swarovski bauble before they are retired.

Reviewing the offering again today, and not much really catches my eye (both in terms of design, and the inevitable post-purchase depreciation). If I make any purchases, here are the top candidates: 1) Silver Peace dollar @ $129 - the simple design of this should translate nice to a coin. 2) Winston Churchill: Roaring Lion - like this one, just because of Winston... haha! Cannot justify the cost at all, unfortunately will pass. It's looking like another really cheap month with the RCM, which is good... fall whisk(e)y releases are right around the corner!

The on-screen renderings remind me of a cheap fridge magnet set that tourists would pick up while in Canada!
