finally got pics I hope they are good enough quality. the nose almost looks like a triple stamp. but that may be just me. the picture didnt take as good as it shows on the view screen but the rty in liberty also is doubled. can some one help.like I said before this is out of an uncirculated set of 1990 coins.

I took the liberty of enhancing the picture a little. It would be helpful to see more of the coin. From just that pic I have to go with Machine Doubling . The way it stops at the tip of the nose when the design turns indicates it is probably Machine Doubled. If the RTY is Doubled on the same side as the nose, this could also indicate Machine Doubling. The flatness of the Doubling is also a good indicator.

I have seen it before , not often, but I guess it does happen. I have a 43 Merc with a tripled date and a Washington quarter with a tripled mint mark- all Machine Tripled.

Only struck once. The movement distorted the devices during striking that made a tripled step, but all part of the only one strike. The dies can move because they are getting too loose for normal striking. Keep in mind how minimal this really is, because we are looking through a scope to see the distortion.

Coop is right. I have seen a large number of coins that show tripling and quadrupling when you put that much magnification on them.
