Quote: I would hope they never do that. Coloring can be great when it's not over done like this product https://eshop.ramint.gov.au/coin-pa...-moonlandingThat said if they were going to color them they would need to commit to coloring more than just them in order to jusify the investment they'd need to make to do it. Same with glow in the dark or holographic. They could try like an enhanced proof, or enhanced burnished, some nickel plated ones like plating it all black besides the design those usually look pretty cool. If they're allowed to they could also play withe the fields doing things like other countries have with the lines and stuff in those. Quote:Anyone think the mint will ever make another ASE with a lower mintage than 30k? I think the 30k was deliberately chosen to match but not blow the 95-W out of the water. I doubt they would go much lower in actual mintage though some products will end up there like congratulations sets

Those could be very nice if done right.

They have a lot of options if they would expand what they do a little bit. That said if they do start doing plating or color I hope they keep those to one a year or at the max two versions. If they over do the number of versions each year even if done right they will get old quickly. Just also remembered that if they're allowed they could also do some privy mark ones

Not sure if it was minted to demand or not but it was in the gold set so you had to buy almost two ounces of gold with it. It was pretty cost prohibitive for most collectors to buy it just for the ASE. Most likely the majority of the sets went to gold collectors who didn't really care about the ASE. In general ASEs weren't as popular than as now either.

Mine arrived today. It's going to taunt me all weekend as I contemplate opening it or sending it off for grading....

@misfit Quote: I work in the New Berlin Industrial park less than a mile from the smartpost facility Sort of Off Topic but will full swing back to numismatics. I promise I used to work 1/2 mile from there as well on Cleveland Ave and they would bring their broke down Scag mowers in for repair. Anywho if you are in the neighborhood and aren't scared to go east of 124th street or HWY 100 as you know most "suburbanites" are on December 19 feel free to stop by for our monthly meeting. http://www.milwaukeenumismaticsociety.comThere will be Balistreri's pizza and other food and drinks brought in by members as well as the usual door prizes provided by the club for the Christmas party. For those who are not a member of a local coin club if there is one in your area I encourage you to join not just for the free food and door prizes, but for the numismatic knowledge and connections and sense of community you get.

I know several of us complained about how slow fedex is, well starting in 2020 smart post will actually start delivering 7 days a week and more packages will be delivered via fedex instead of the post office. I'm crossing my fingers it comes tomorrow, this has been the slowest service ever.

Quote:I believe FedEx already begun this in the spring: https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/31/busi...s/index.htmlMy package claims to be on vehicle for delivery by FedEx end of today (Sunday), not USPS. If they have started this then my package is in trouble. There hasn't been any activity since Friday and I just assumed it was because there was no movement on weekends. It's still showing in the system as a Monday delivery however almost positive that's going to get pushed back.
