I was starting to put these pix up and noticed by MYSELF that the die clash I was planning on lettin the experts figure out. I did on my own..YAAAAAAY.

Anyway, the reverse of this 1886 Seated dime is clashed with the Oberverse of a Seated dime.

Some parts more deep then others and one part even completely cuts thru the E in DIME. hard to see in pix!

Sorry, I don't have an image to make an overlay, but 100% positive that is what you are seeing.

There are a lot of things you need to know if your using Photoshop. But I think what you were going for was this? Top image Obverse, Middle reverse with clash marks and lower image overlay.

After re-checking the overlay, I noticed it was exactly over the clash mark. So I tried moving it off center and that wasn't it either. So I rotated one of the dies and that's it.

One of the things to remember before going into extensive work with overlays to prove your coin is a die clash...

Die clashes are very common on 19th century US coinage, and almost every single time you see a step-down straight line running across the field it's a die clash - no overlay needed.

Overlays are much more useful in determining similarities or differences in unknowns. Your coin is pretty obviously a die clash at first glance - no need going through all the work to prove it.
