Okay, first off. It's been quite a while since I've posted on here, and it feels good to finally be back. Lol But alright, I came across some coins the other day, that one of my buddy's decided to give me, and found 2 very odd ones in the lot and... Quite frankly, I have no idea what to even begin to think about them. Much less, know if they might be worth anything, or if it was just people messin around some time ago. Here, take a look and PLEASE, let me know y'all's thoughts and opinions.

@l69, glad to have you back and posting such interesting pieces. Neither one is a mint error, but the question is why did someone do these things?

For the '20 cent, it is encased in a bezel. This might be done for the purpose of incorporating this cent into jewelry, or maybe just because it happened to be a tight fit and someone was just messing around?

The nickel piece is even more of a mystery to me. It looks like two additional layers of metal have been brazed onto it. Part of a magic trick? A clandestine way to store small objects? I have no idea, but look forward to others' responses.

There actually is something, rattling around inside the nickel/button/whatever it is. O.o And, I appreciate your input. I honestly had no idea what so ever to begin to think about either one of these. Lookin forward to other replys. Maybe they can help, get even deeper into this. Lol

@l69, after looking at several previous CCF threads and then blowing up your pic of the nickel, I think that I have solved the mystery of what you have there: a so-called squirting nickel. The copper section is a bellow that, when squeezed, will squirt a stream of water from the O in OF.

@Spence, a squirting nickel is new to me. I thought that I had heard of everything, but evidently not.

Yes it is true that we don't see them all that often here on CCF--that plus a lack of caffeine was why I didn't think of it right away. If you look on the interwebs for SQUIRTING NICKEL, you can find them for sale for about $7.

@Spence, incredible catch! You are a wealth of information! A squirting nickel is a new one to me, too. Glad my big sister didn't have one of those handy when I was a little brat.
