Hey, Guys! I am about two months into this whole die variety / error coin thing my wife thinks I am "obsessed" about. I found my first doubled coin on 11/30/19 and was sad to learn it was MD, which I read about, but could not distinguish from the real thing. You guys taught me the difference, see link to my education here at CCF below. http://goccf.com/t/361476So, after I had learned to recognize what MD was, I went back to look more closely at the pictures in the Cherrypicker's Guide of DDO's and DDR's. Between reviewing those pictures, and having yuns write me that "true doubling adds to the strike of a coin, and that MD lessens the strike of a coin", I went to a local coin show yesterday to look for some REAL doubling. I think I found a 1943 Washington quarter that has real doubling! Take a look at the attached USB microscope photos I took today and tell me what you think. Is this coin the real deal? Thanks for your advice in advance. P.S. I paid $7.00 for this coin.

Hi, Greasy Fingers! I took some whole coin photos today, but even after I cropped them, they were still around 600kb per file, so no go on posting them to CCF. I have to try either setting a lower resolution on my Sony NEX-3N and/or trying a different lens/extender combo. I do not have a real macro lens yet, but used a 50MM lens with a 6X extender to create a "sort-of" macro lens. We'll see what works tomorrow to get a whole coin pic down to the 300 Kb CCF limit. I'm glad to hear that this is the real deal. It sounds like I should consider having this graded. I have not yet graded any coin with PCGS, but I have been reading up on it. So much new stuff to learn!

Great find! Make sure you write down the attribution number and put in a 2x2 for protection.

Hi, Errers and Varietys. Is an attribution number the FS system of nomenclature? And yes, I already have the coin in a 2x2 flip.
