What say ye wise members of the Forum? Struck though debris or something else. Thanks for helping me clean up some of my "random oddball" coins I've been setting aside.

It looks like it was struck through copper foil.

Looks like a lamination flaw.

My vote is that this is a lam.

I'm going with lamination peel. Nice peel artifact on the top (top-right) edge of 'O' in ONE.

If you really blow up the photo, it appears that what ever the object is, it's still present, like it was struck through something that is still in place.

Is there a difference between struck through and delamination if the object struck through remains in place ? The field of the coin looks all on the same plane no missing material.
It also appears that the piece has letters struck in it, like it's from another coin, previously struck. It appears to say "AMERICA". Could part of a previous coin De-laminate from and become a struck through on this coin ?

Dan

Love all the feedback. The little fleck to the North East of the O does seem raised as if something is still there. The long "strip" is indented from what I can tell.

Partial lamination peel. But I wonder if it was a struck through debris error. Hard to tell from images. On the 'ON' area it looks like it is above the planchet before the strike.

Yes that would explain it. A lamination error on a previous coin debree struck through on this coin and some of it still remains.
