has anyone find that there is better time of year if you need to sell off a collection price wise? due to health issues I need to sell my collection of 50 years to generate some income. most of my better pieces are raw like my 09s VDB and many others.

If you have the luxury to wait I think I'd avoid the first few months after Christmas and wait until tax refunds start hitting.

Well that's a bummer. With your rep you might do well listing them here, Would it make sense to have some of the better material graded?

Best of health wishes to you. I know when my time comes that I have to sell, I'll be sending them to auction. Perhaps someplace like Heritage Auctions?

If you have hundreds or maybe thousands of coins, it may be worth sending to a specialist numismatic public auction , where they will auction to more valuable coins individually, and the the rest of them will be grouped into smaller and larger job lots.
I have already made some preliminary negotiations to dispose of my own collection by this method. Same applies if you have an extensive numismatic library.
If you have some time and energy left it may be worth having at least some fun, and selling at least come of your coins here, within the CCF.

panzaldi- sorry to hear this. I may have to walk that path myself in the future, but I hope not. regardless, I'm more than willing to help you out with some funds if you're needing to liquidate. I'm putting together my Lincoln Cent album & still need about a dozen of the older issues. i'd be happier to help a fellow ccf member than buy from ebay or any other online coin outlet. PM me if interested. better health & best of luck to you either way.

Sorry to hear this. Because if this post I talked to my daughter and she wants all my coins I'm only 50 so hopefully I have a few more years. But it's nice one of the kids wants my small collection. Being forced to sell is tough.

Possibly if your healthy enough try a coin show. Talk to several dealers there about wanting to sell.

sorry for the delay in response to my post. i'd like to thank everyone who responded. as you are aware as a collector this is one of the most difficult things to come to gripes with. I've really tossed this around a lot and no one really has an interest in the family. I contacted those who have a lead for me and i'll take it from there. this wont mean i'll be leaving CCF as I'm addicted to this forum
