Looks like heat damage,like from a house fire.

Really? Heat damage would raise it up like that on both sides?

Yes. I used to have a clad dime pulled from the ashes of a very large fire pit. Looking at its rim, the dime had almost taken on the shape of an M&M candy because of the heat. Both OBV and REV had bowed outwards.
