I've submitted enough by now so many of you know that I am posting my 250+ dollars for grading and comments. I believe they range from AG to MS with most being in the VF to AU grade range, but that's why I am submitting them here, to get your opinions and grades not just my own. Don't beat me up, they are not pristine like many of the submissions here by other folks, but I've had fun winning auctions at ebay and growing my collection. Just give me your honest grade and condition comments please and I'll appreciate them all, good and bad ...... Thank You

So what do you all mean by junk silver value or melt value? Melt value is what, around $13 bucks? I know that I can sell them at ebay, and this one would be more than $10 over melt. I just went to ebay and looked at their sold values for 1934 D Peace dollars. Of the last 15 virtually identical in condition to this 1934 D, and all sold between 1/25 and 1/28 this month, with an average price of $24.70 ...... ebay fees and PayPal fees and shipping costs nip about $6.00 off of that. That means a profit of around $19.00 Now I know that's not much but it's still 50% more than melt. So my question is ....... when you say junk silver or melt, is that just a figure of speech for a coin that you don't think much of, or do you really believe you could only get melt value for it?

Apologize - mis-read the date and agree that this is worth slightly more than bullion value. My bad.

For me a 34D in VF grade is around a $35.00 coin, now knock it down due to the cleaning (at least 50%) and we'ed be at 17 dollars or the silver melt value...but that's just my view

this piece would not grade at a TPG. they would not assign a letter grade to it to the harshness of the cleaning

A coin with some serious cleaning issues. Value can be seen in two ways, what a specific individual would pay for a coin and what the market would pay for it. Personally I wouldn't consider it for my collection, thus the value to me is pretty much worthless. On the flip side there is a market for it even in this condition. On ebay it would likely sell for somewhere between $17-$25 with relative ease.

Circulated, common-date US 90% silver dimes, quarters, and halves are what I think of as junk silver. These coins are currently worth about 12X face value. Peace and Morgan dollars generally sell for more unless heavily worn or damaged. Your '34-D would likely fit in the $17-25 range as suggested by apcol258. Sadly, the eye appeal is pretty negative.

Now this coin really had me fooled. In hand and even under a 10X jewelers loop, it looks really nice. Nice natural toning, circulated, but not too worn for a Peace dollar ............. until I took a picture. Now it just looks butt ugly. As a matter of fact, today I took more pictures because I was wondering how this happened. It just doesn't look like the same coin. It really doesn't look as bad as the pictures I included with this post. I really have to turn it a certain at a certain angle for the scratches to show, yet the camera picks up everything. Well anyway, thanks for the comments and I Have marked this coin for sale. Once I get all 250+ coins submitted here, I'll go and sell all the ones I'm not too proud of.

I mean this is maybe a $15-$17 coin, but I disagree with some of the other members here. This coin is still a piece of history, fully legible, and a scarcer date to boot. Nothing to be ashamed of here. I would probably like to carry this one around as a pocket piece.

Ouch! This one hurts. Bullion only, no grade. That would have been a nice one without the harsh cleaning. Even though it is a 1934-D, I don't think it would find a buyer on a bourse floor. The only market for it probably is ebay.
