Revisiting this coin now that I feel like my Photography has improved, and I am about to send some coins off to PCGS in the next couple of weeks.

I'm gonna put it at AU-50, but I think it has a shot at AU-53. Very nice coin!

I'll say AU-53 as well. Handsome coin.

AU55 really close to 58. lots of details on the high points of the reliefs
cant tell if the surfaces are original due to subdued lighting. is this the actual color? if not can you repost with a little more light?

AU-50
What's going on with the 8 in the date? Is it a variety?

The reverse still has some slight luster left, it is pretty close to the photo in color, a nice milk chocolate color.

love the little luster peaking through. I think this one is worth slabbing as there is a possibility it could push over the MS line. it would not surprise me at all. even at 58 its worth it. looking forward to see what PCGS says

Virtually no wear that I can see. AU-55 or 58 I think. I was not aware of this variety. Very cool, congrats!

Me too panzaldi, I am excited about seeing how this one grades, I don't think there are over a couple dozen out there that grade higher, even if it comes back mid AU. Should have them in the mail this week sometime I am hoping.
Jaobler, thanks, I lucked into this one, and 5 others for 150 bucks total I believe it was, the proof 1840 is the same die if I'm not mistaken also. Pretty high on the rarity scale, according to PCGS anyways.
