Can anyone help with this one.

I don't know very much about coins, but this one does not stick to a magnet.

If that color at the top of the second photo is on the item. and you can peel any of the gold coloring off it I would say that it is gold leaf coating the item

Could you give us the size, the weight, and the thickness? These are very thin as I recall, and it might help us determine the density.

it measures 1 1/2" long x 1 3/8" wide; thickness is a little less than 1/16th of an inch. not sure of the density and I think the white part at the top of the second photo is paper where it may have been glued to something?

Your coin seems similar to this but unfortunately I do not think yours is genuine. https://cNGCoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=147776

@rsalars, first welcome to CCF. Second, getting confirmation on the weight would be a great first step. If the weight of your piece is spot on, then you should get a non-destructive determination of the alloy.

It's a tourist souvenir. I have one somewhere too.

The original koban has some small countermarks to show that it has passed the weight test as well as the mint master.

It's a ryo or a replica of one. Here's a reference point.

By the 1860's the weight was down to 3.3 grams.

Some company made a whole bunch of replica Koban in silver as a tourist item - you see them all the time on ebay. Looks like some unscrupulous individual plated it in gold to pass as real.

I do not believe this is plated silver either. Likely to be plated brass.
