@khasil, of course you are free to do whatever you want in terms of getting these slabbed, but perhaps listen to what folks say here before you put them in the mail. Can you please post the weight of both nickels? An off-metal strike should have a significantly different weight.

Ok hmm, those are quite close in weight. And no need to apologize--it is just that some folks come in pretty hot that they have the find of the century and are unwilling to listen to anyone trying to help them see other possibilities. Clearly that isn't you.
I would assume that the difference in color is due to environmental or chemical exposure and surface toning. One way to prove what you have there (non-destructively) is with an XRF test. Your local coin shop or pawn shop might have access to one.

I am 98.7 % sure they are both normal average circulated 35% silver War Nickels. The one on the left was damaged on the reverse in the center during a machine coin wrapping process because it was on the end of the roll. The other is scratched on the obverse. It would be a waste of money and you will be disappointed in the end getting these graded. They might come back VG details or damaged.

Try a single ply tissue test. If the one on the left looks white underneath the tissue, it's silver.
