STAGED SHOW! Anyone who has ever been to the shop in Las Vegas , realizes They make money by being famous not from the shop . With all do respect , the place is in a seedy part of Vegas and is a dump !
Nice coin, but still a total staged show and set-up from the get-go.
I actually bought a couple of National Bank notes from them about 10 years ago. One from Rockwall, Texas and one from Dublin, Texas. Paid too much but just the way it goes sometimes.
As far as Pawn Stars being in a "seedy" area of Las Vegas? The WHOLE strip and downtown IS "seedy"!
A PR61 in a PCGS holder sold at a Heritage auction for $99,875 January 7, 2015 so Rick will probably squeak out with a little profit. A 2017 Matte finish HR sale was $160,00 for a PR64 and a more recent January 2019 sale was on the antique finish instead of the Matte finished proof, it went for $192,000.
Wonder where Rick will sell it, privately or at auction, knowing he is a dealer he won't be keeping it long, he needs to make his profit and get out. I'm sure he will clear $10K maybe even double that or more.
On a side note, I have held one and got a chance to examine it up close in hand. They almost don't look real, it's like a fake Peace dollar, but everything matches up except the finish has a strange granular look to it, while the other areas are almost chromed looking. Strange coin, beautiful, yet strange IMO. I'd really like to see the Antique finished one.
I also found it interesting they chose David Vagi as the expert to come on. He must have already been in town, and they are using this as a promo to help sell the coin. David does work for NGC and is really knowledgeable, but he is primarily an ancient coin expert, not a US expert.

And westcoin raises a good point. David is knowledgeable, but when it comes to ultra rarities, I'd pass on having him have the call on it. Nothing against him personally, I'd just rather have the person most qualified.
