I found this today and am having a hard time matching it up with one on Cuds-on-Coins. I would appreciate any opinions or suggestions, thank you.

Hey Sudz! Nice to see you posting pal! How have you been?

Anyways, very nice find! I think you have a new unlisted Cud. I couldn't find a match on COC's.

Hey E&V, good to hear from you as well. I am good and still on the "hunt". I come here often to visit, but you are right, while I am still finding a good number of treasures, for some reason I haven't posted much lately. Getting old or lazy or both I guess...

I hope all is well, thanks for you input!

No problem Sudz! Thank you for responding. Everything is well for me. Been very happy now that I finally paid my car off (paid it off last week).

Not wanting to rain on your parade, but are you completely sure that it is a Cud? I know that it in the right location (i.e. along the rim), but it sure looks like metal that was smeared over the rim and onto the coin. I can see a fine shadow along the margin of this region. For sure it could just be lighting, but perhaps you can show us the edge of the coin in that region? Or maybe I'm wrong--it just feels prudent to chase this one down a little bit.

Spence has a point... you can see a shadow, which I don't think Cuds produce (but I'm not 100% sure).

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I am sure it's a Cud, the telltale sign is the soft or non-existent devices on the corresponding opposite side (reverse) due to lack of the necessary opposing pressure caused by a Cud. What caused the shadow, I think, is that the angle of the light was too low. What is great about this one for me is that, while I have been fortunate to find dozens if not hundreds of Cuds, this is my first on a steel 1943 Wheat cent. Chase007, I found it in a lot I purchased on the Bay. Thanks again!

I don't think this is from the same die pair but the area is a weak spot for Cuds apparently.

Here we can see the die has cracked on the top one. After that piece of the die broke completely off it struck is the result of what we see on the bottom.
One clue, I think I can see a die clash on the reverse. It is most visible running at an angle through the bottom of the E in ONE and runs toward the right top of the N in CENT.

Ok yes good point about the weak spot on the rev. It must just be a trick of the lighting. Super find @sudz!

RobO411, oddly I am originally from Southern California. However,I left in the early 70'S and did not own such a business as your friend. Strange coincidence though. I got my nickname from my best friend when I was about 10 or so, about the same time I started collecting coins.
