Lincoln S/S/S/S Repunched Mint Mark / RPM ? Are These Known?

coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 04/04/2020 2:44 pm The punch get bent from trying to create mintmarks on hardened dies. Thus part of the punch gets bent over. It is always interesting to look at RPMs and you will then realize the same damaged punch created many dies, even many denominations as well. I had a roll of BU cents from an original roll that all of them were showing the same affected damaged punch issues, but they are from different dies. So the punches can be used on several different dies. These damaged punch issues are not part of a RPM. They are just from damaged punches. Coins can have (often sometimes) different RPMs affecting the different areas of the mintmark. But the damamged punch issue on the mintmark are not figured into a RPM. A spread is what to look for on a RPM. See the spread on the upper loop? That is the RPM. Below in the lower loop it is showing doubled mintmark punch damage. So it is just an S/S. North.
