Showing us a photo (both sides) of the coin OUTSIDE of the 2x2 would help us. to the CCF!

To CCF! It's PSD (Post Strike Damage). Probably heated. The bubble gives it away.
Errers and Varietys.

The ear is stamped over the "glob" and it doesn't appear to have damage on the back other than the raised area being more worn than lower areas

Can you PLEASE remove it from the 2x2 to let us see it clearly?

That coin is just badly damaged. Looks like it has been in a fire, and corrosion as well.

to CCF. The "bulge" indicates it has been heated, like in a house fire or on purpose. Not an error, PMD. John1

The coin was struck and then later exposed to high heat allowing the outer layer to soften and a trapped internal gas pocket expanded creating the bubble on the surface. Since the detail was already struck into the surface it still shows on the now distorted surface.

Most people think of house fires for a coin in this condition but a plumbers torch can direct the heat to a specific area pretty easily. I found a similar dime also but there is a bubble on both sides and offset from each other. I hung onto it for about 10 years before finding the answer.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups. We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I mentioned house fire as a simple reference, so people do not think it was heated at the mint. John1
