Next Friday the Mint is scheduled to release the 2020 Silver Proof Set. I held off getting the standard proof set to justify the shipping, so I'll be ordering both. My reason for the post was more to ask about the West Point Jefferson, specifically any thoughts on their condition upon arrival. Unlike last year the forum was bombarded with negative complaints. Has the situation of the past been rectified or are sales off from last year? Thoughts, comments? I had no problem with the cents last year. My proof W Jefferson looks nice. I hope the reverse proof is as nice.

I noticed this in a recent email from the mint.
"2020 United States Mint Silver Proof Set® —with a 2020 "W" Reverse Proof Nickel—on sale April 17. The current product limit for this set is 190,960. However, additional units may be produced as circumstances allow."
Is this number going to be enough to fulfil demand based on last year's sales?

My nickels from the regular proof set were fine. The bags were not only intact (unlike last year's cents), but they were even placed inside the special envelopes. Quote: Is this number going to be enough to fulfil demand based on last year's sales? The mint currently has stock, but has ceased producing numismatic products at this time due to the pandemic. When the restrictions are lifted, they will produce more.

The mint "might" produce more. They are only going to state that 190k will be made available. If they can get caught up , remember they still have a lot of numismatic items to produce, they may or may not produce more silver proofs

Like jbuck, I didn't have any issues with my W cents in 2019 and my W Jeffs this year so far have also been issue-free.

Thanks guys. I more or less thought so, that the problems from last year hadn't carried over. On that subject, all three finishes of mine arrived perfect. As for the initial mintage number that puts it on track with last year. Which frees up some silver for other future releases. Remember, these are .999 silver and that extra 10% adds up quickly.

I had no problems with the 2019 cents nor the 2020 nickel released this year with the proof set. In all eight sets (two of each) the coins are quite nice.

I usually get the silver proof set every year (but usually waited until Christmas to order everything at once with free shipping) but decided to go on the subscription this year since there's a limited number of them this year.

I've had a subscription for these ever since they announced free shipping for subscriptions, and I've already received my confirmation email so should be good.
Maybe it's just me but it seems unusual for them to release a product on a Friday.

I don't know if we've ever been in this situation before, but do enrollments always go ahead of orders?

Quote: do enrollments always go ahead of orders? I don't know if there's anything "official" for that, but it would seem like they would. Enrollments start processing before online ordering opens to the public.

Quote: Maybe they are hoping to stave off the rush knowing the limited availability? The date was set long before the quarantining started. My plan was to get mine at coin show in Dalton, GA. Unfortunately, it had to be cancelled. :(

Quote: The date was set long before the quarantining started. You are right. I thought it was moved up when all the other things went TBD, but I looked back at the e-mails and it was always 4/17. With that, no idea why they set on a Friday.

I'm guessing because it was literally going to be the first day of the Dalton coin show. The regular proof set went on sale on the first day of the ANA Money show in Atlanta which happened to be on a Thursday.
