I am excited to present a much sought after 1955-P 1DO-002 that I found in a bunch of coins I purchased at 3 cents apiece. I have been looking for this guy since I first heard about it years ago and truly on my bucket list. I knew that I would virtually have no chance of ever finding the "King of Doubled Dies" the 1955-P 1DO-001, but I always believed that there was a chance of finding this one. Lo and behold, this is my lucky day. Apparently it is a pretty uncommon coin and I am thrilled to find it. Copper Coins has this to say about it:

Quote:
"Nice distorted and clockwise pivoted (from K-6) doubling shows on the motto, LIBERTY, and the eyelid. This doubled die has proven to be extremely scarce and very difficult to obtain."

Anyway, here are the pics, I would love to hear what you all think. Thanks for your time.

I have no idea how scarce they are but I'll bet many were overlooked over the years and thrown back by people while only looking for the 1955-P 1DO-001. Congrats!

Quite a rare one indeed! When I was submitting one for slabbing at a coin show the guy was like, "now this is the rare 1955." Your coin is a very nice example in an early die state and on a great-looking coin. That's a total winner.

Congratulations on getting that bucket lister and a nice job on the images.
It's still on my bucket list.

Yep nice early die state coin. I believe the rarity factor on these is because this die deteriorated quickly. There are some later die states on CoinFacts if you want to see how this die ended up looking.
