Here's one for study. It's a partial collar strike with an attached rim burr on the reverse. The copper plating has split around the obverse leaving partial inside and outside rings of zinc exposed. The reverse shows several areas of split plating through the letters ONE CEN, on the points of the Memorial Building and inside several columns, with additional rings inside and outside of the rim showing the zinc core. The reverse seems to have been just inside of the retaining collar as it's the correct diameter. What do you think happened? Is this coin double struck? While I don't think the rim burr was caused by a blanking error, what could have caused it. Opinions, theories, observation? Let me know what you think! Partial collar or maybe a stiff collar? Whatever it is, nice find. I'm not into errors much but like looking at them

Split plating from a strong strike. No premium. Time is now counting down for this coin. The zinc is exposed and will continure to break down until it expires.

Partial collar, the expantion of the side not restrained by the collar has caused the plating splitting. The rim bur is post strike, it is sitting on top of the letter and has not been struck into the coin. If it was a pre-strike burr it would conform to the letters not sit on top of them.
