Size 14 from a Kennedy Silver Half dollar a good way to kill a couple of hours.
clean coin (What!),
cut hole in middle (No way!),
Anneal (Artificial toning !),
hammer out (Altered surfaces!)
pickle (Environmental Damage!) and polish (Whizz!)

Well, don't bother to get it slabbed then!

If you damage a coin enough it becomes something else-and more interesting than a common silver coin.

YEARS ago I made a ring out of a quarter the old-fashioned way:
I hammered it with a spoon.
Then I punched out the center and filed it down.
My understanding at the time was that prisoners would do this.
Any truth to that story?
I wore it for so long that it got nice and smooth.
