I'm looking for help/advice on this Walking Liberty half dollar. From what I've researched this is a fake. The coin has Eagle on both sides no date. What sets it apart from all the coins I found are the edges seem pretty clean(from what I tell) as the others have edges that are clearly machined. Secondly This coin has S stamp on both sides. I've found many but all are stamped S and D. Thanks for any help .

@harold, first welcome to CCF. Second, when we see coins with either both sides heads or both sides tails, it is almost always an example of a so-called Magician's coin. Can you see a seam where one coin has been hollowed out and the other placed in there? Also, please post the weight of this piece. Thx.

They also mint these counterfeits purposefully with two "tails" or two "heads" in China and can be purchased for a few dollars each.

Good point @nss. At 17 g, this piece is pretty overweight. If there is no visible seam then I agree a modern fabrication. I suppose XRF or some other means of determining the alloy would let us know for sure.

The seam is visible in your photos. Definitely a Magicians coin.

That is an odd one. Usually they make them with heads on both sides.
