Mint mark position and VDB both look correct. Looks genuine to me.

Genuine. Please show us full pics of both sides that you feel truly represent the natural color of this coin. to the CCF!

Thanks to both of you, I'm rather new to this, at this level, and frankly the internet is like drinking from a fire hose when it comes to coin research! I tried loading higher quality pictures but it wouldn't let me. As for colour, I just bought a digital microscope, so I'm learning there too. I am not sure how to take an image that truly reflects the colour. As I am interested in opinions about grading, any suggestions there would be helpful as well.

Full pics of both sides showing true color are critical to establishing a grade and value. Keep trying. Your images establish little more than that of a genuine, but likely flawed, coin.

I call it VG details scratched. However still a fantastic key date! Nice find!

Split grade - G obverse, F reverse, net VG details (scratched).

I'd say VG-8. That's a pretty heavy scratch on the obverse, but given the overall grade, it might straight grade.
