If this isn't an actual DDO then I quit because I will never be able to tell the difference. I think it is though because it isn't flat like the Machine or Strike Doubling. Please let me know your thoughts. Also lucky me a dang CRH marked the back of the coin with a black marker. I CRH and have never marked a coin so it is a bit annoying.

Yes that certainly is! Congrats man, that is the 1974D DDO FS-101. In your condition, about 20 dollars.

Thanks man that is my first ever DD found. All the other ones in the beginning when I started this coin journey were always MD but I think I am getting the hang of it finally. Hey I will take $20 for 50 cents any day. Thanks for looking and commenting man!

Nice DDO. If it is black marker on the reverse,it should come right off with 100% pure acetone. John1

Surprised that such a nice doubled die doesn't command more of a premium. If this were on a quarter with doubling this severe it would probably be a $500 coin.

It is fairly common. Meaning that it was not spotted and made a full run. It is probably the best coin to get for a new collector to understand doubled dies better. IMOHO

Thanks guys it was a proud moment for me when I realized it was an actual DDO. I was already hooked on the coin hobby anyway but this was something I needed to find to just prove that I could and help me see the difference between MD and an actual DD. Thanks again for all your help hope to post many more finds on this wonderful site full of helpful people. Thanks Chris

Interesting, Coop. How carefully/often do they check the coins being produced by a die? It shocks me sometimes that certain fairly minor DDs will be extremely rare (indicating they were pulled early), while others with extremely severe doubling like the 1995 LMC DDO-001 can be so common.

Take for instance die polishing, we see that they have the normal areas that they concentrate on. But sometimes a clash mark is in a different area. So with this die they probably checked the area where they always check. (Probably "In God") but missed TRUST. So they missed it, and the die made a full run. We check all coins, they probably checked just one and missed this one. They make a lot of dies, and the percentage is probably very low for them spot these. So they may have been in a hurry with this die.
