Makes sense, thanks for letting me know! What made you choose trying to cherrypick this specific variety? (Hope you don't mind all the questions).

I don't mind at all. I assume your asking about the '44-D? -CH27

Well I had already looked for a lot of the coins I have been hunting for a while and decided to try to find a 1944-D/S over mint mark. While hunting for that I found this one. I was pretty happy. 1944-D has so many RPMs and are followed by this doubled die and 2 over mint marks. This date/mint mark is a gold mine for great varieties.

That makes sense. Good for you, it is an amazing coin! Very nice, I'll keep that in mind for sure. I might try searching with that date as well, as I do have experience with the later wheat cents when it comes to DDs and RPMs,

Thanks! I will certainly look into it. If I were to get it into an air-tight, would it slow down/stop the spread or growth of these spots?

Would it be best to put a coin like this in a 2x2 or air-tight capsule? I mean obviously air-tight is better but when it comes down to cost, what would be best? At what point does a coin become worthy of an air-tight capsule?

Nice one. I sold a MS63RB version of this coin for $150 recently. Still have a 64RB. Yours looks 65RD at least. Batts has a few of these in 66RD. I think he sold one in the $600 range. Awesome coin. I'll post one of my recents now! Another easy one to pic

Thanks Willburton! I am greatly pleased with the coin but now worried about the spot on Abe's forehead. Will 100% acetone do the trick?

Industrial strength acetone will do very, very little to address the spot--if the spot is of the nature of similar looking spots one finds on older, nearly pristine Lincoln cents. Some casually call these 'carbon spots'.
Nice coin!

Thanks! So there isn't much I can do for the spot?

Nice coin. Very useful information CH27. If we all use BIN, then we don't have to worry about competing with each other! You see it first you buy it.
