This might be the wrong place to post this topic but I don't know where else to post it. Basically I need to send out coins for my ebay shop. I leave it in my mailbox and wait for the postal service to pick it up like any normal person. However, they never arrive. I've placed my letters into the mailbox, flipped up the red flag, and have waited DAYS for them to pick it up. However, they never arrive/pick it up. I've even left it in there overnight, which can be dangerous. But nothing seems to work. Is there even a mail route in my location? I'm living in a rental house right now. I'm very confused and annoyed, I can't keep on traveling to the post office every single time, it is too expensive on gas! Not sure what to do.

They will probably only check your mailbox if they are delivering mail there. Do a search on USPS for the closest blue collection box. Probably safer dropping it in a blue box than leaving it in your mailbox anyway.

Thank you John, I do plan to do that soon. Because I've got late orders and the Post Office is closed today, I'm just going to the UPS store. Thanks Zurie, however, as everyone else said, the closest blue box is at the Post Office

Yeah, they used to be everywhere, but they've really cut back on those blue boxes. I guess I'm fortunate to still have one close to our house...

Are you rural and got switched to a private contractor? Some of them are not contracted to pick up.

Makes sense Zurie, thanks again.
No Bobby I'm in a public neighborhood. Just living in a house where the owners have decided to rent it out occasionally.

My stupid question is....how do you normally get your mail?

Well, if it's a package, at the door step, if it's a letter, in the mailbox.
That's what makes this so strange.

The USPS has been bombarded with work. We are friends with a Postal employee and they are 2-3 days backed up even working 12-14 shifts every day. Since Covid the number of packages has more than tripled. Although first class mail has slowed down, the package volume is hard to keep on top off. "Unofficially" we no longer have mail every day. They can't keep up. So I've noticed I get mail 3-4 days a week now. I don't blame them, everyone beats on the Post Office but they do a great job overall. Think about how many pieces of mail get to where they are going.
Sorry for the tangent, as to your mail issue, all I can assume is that they don't have the capacity to pick up mail when they deliver. Your best bet is to call the PO and have them 2X a week pick up mail. They generally would rather pick up once or twice a week rather than get mail every day.
Good luck.

I have an account with USPS online. I can lookup information, rates, print labels and schedule pickups with the tools found there. You need to schedule pickup a day ahead, but you can let them know where the package will be, including your mailbox. Take a look, it may be just the thing you're looking for.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Thank you both hfjacinto and Yokozuna for this valuable information. I will try to keep this information in mind, and will hopefully be able to schedule pickups as you said Yokozuna.
Thanks again everyone for the help and advice.

If you have coins in your envelopes the postage might have to be determined at the Post Office. Your carrier may be ignoring them for that reason. Best bet is to go there and ask them.

Why would they be ignoring it? I ship them out in 2x2s, wrapping them up in paper. So I doubt they would know they were coins. But if they did, why would they ignore coin shipments?
Yep good idea, I plan to on Monday.
