Hi!
I recently bought a 24kt gold Kennedy half dollar, die struck with profile of Pres Abraham Lincoln, looks pretty cool. Does anyone have any info they can share on this item? I can't seem to find it ANYWHERE online, unfortunately. There is a P mint mark. Thanks in advance!

@brow, first welcome to CCF. Second, what you have is an ordinary half dollar that has been modified in two ways after leaving the US mint: it was counterstamped with Lincoln's bust and it was gold-plated. Neither of these increase the value of this coin. It is a fun piece of Americana, but you can be sure that the Wellington mint made plenty of these to sell as souvenirs.

The certificate proves it is a genuine coin, that is plated with gold. Not a gold coin. So it is certifying it as a legit fake gold plated coin with damage from the counter stamp added.

Some people collect coins with counterstamps, others just see it as damage. This is not a mint issued set... the private company you purchased it from bought a batch of Kennedy halves, counterstamped them with Lincoln's profile, had them gold plated and wrote up a certificate of Authenticity (to authenticate what?) and sold it to you. Hopefully this will motivate you to collect a whole set of Kennedy halves, and add this unique coin to it. Or perhaps you can collect ncounterstamps? Lot's of directions you can go from here, but we do hope you'll stick around and join our merry family!

These are just fun novelty coins. I found a couple when roll searching, although mine were not gold plated.
