Hello everyone,

I came across some coins and they almost look TOO Clean, if that is even a thing. They are Walking Liberty half dollar coins ranging from 1920 through 1944 I got 7 of them. I bought a box of coins for $100 at an estate sale. There were 3 Morgan silver dollars so I figured it was worth it. The Walking Liberty's grabbed my attention because they are really clean and in good shape, almost like new. I have attached a photo of 3 of them.

I am new to coin collecting so when I went to look them up I didn't see any that were in this nice of condition. I was told these were in a gentleman's top drawer in a zip log bag for years. He passed away a while ago so I am unable to get any more information.

My question is, could these be fake? or did I really get lucky with some coins in amazing condition?

I appreciate your feedback. The 2nd photo I show a 1901 silver dollar and a 1968 half dollar just to show the color differences.

Please let me know what you think. Thank you so much.

I believe the '35-S is fake. A quick look at an ebay listing revealed the date digits are wrong. I'll assume the same for the '44-D if acquired from the same source.

from pictures provided so far,
I have to agree: really need much sharper pictures to assess surface texture.
I can't really make up my mind if:
a) fake, or
b) they have had a quick acid dip and thorough rinsing.

Either way, I can't see much evidence of residual mint luster.

Comparative ping tone with known genuine would definitely be useful in this case.

Photos are too blurry to make any type of evaluation and guess.

Two things just off the top....

1). As far as the Walkers go —— it is doubtful that 70 or 80 year old coins would have that brilliant luster unless they have been cleaned, dipped or played with.

2). The Morgan has that "funky" gray toning around the devices that is synonymous with counterfeit coins of Chinese origins.

Right now I'm leaning towards counterfeits. Hope I'm wrong.

Better pics are a must.

If you can, get a refund. The walkers at best are cleaned, but appear to be fakes, but photos are not good enough to be 100% certain. Please post obverse of the Morgan. If the Morgan is a 1901, it is 100% fake as the reverse arrow feather is not correct for a 1901.

Another one of the biggest lies in the "estate sale/garage sale/flea market" side show circus

Good luck with that. The seller is probably long gone and at home getting more stuff ready for next weekend's "estate sale"!

I agree that all of these coins look pretty suspicious, but in the future you should separate the coins into different threads
