Please take a look at my 1886 Morgan for grading. It has a slight toning.

First, I suspect that this is a cast counterfeit. This coin has a mottled surface, deformed lettering, sunken spots in the deformed stars, and "blobs" that would constitute die chips that would be obvious die markers, if authentic. The coin lacks any cartwheel effect and any luster. The surface is grayish and flat. The "I" of UNITED has a blob that would be a marker if it were a genuine die chip. Sadly, the Chinese do counterfeit common date Morgans. I suspect that the weight or specific gravity will be off, as well. JMHO.

It does have that grainy, cast appearance on the surfaces, but I would think that pull-away toning would be hard to replicate on a cast counterfeit. So I'm going with AU-58 details, altered surfaces.

I believe this is a genuine Morgan. It has been in the family since the 40's. The coin weight is 26.77 grams and the diameter measures 38 mm. I took another picture which might illustrate the coin's luster.

One thing I have learned, and I'm no expert by any means, just sending in coins to get them graded, when you see the circle where there is a color difference between the lettering, its been cleaned at some point.
