Hi,

Seeking an opinion on this 1869 IHC. This is going on ebay tomorrow and with this being a semi-key each grade increase causes a nice jump in price. Note the rim damage on the obverse at about 11 o'clock. Is that severe enough to prevent a straight grade?

Thanks for looking!

I'd say VF-35, right on the fence of XF-40. Looks like the rim at 2 o'clock is a bit chewed up as well. Between those two spots, might be enough to Details , see how others feel on that.

Sharper pics would help, but I'll say VF-30 as well.

VF-25+ , I would apply some conservation to it ; Get rid of most of that crud on both sides of that coin before putting it up on the block .

Agree with VF-35 straight grade. A nice original example.

I'm at VF 20, there are several issues with this coin including the rim damage, the scratch by S in the states. And it has way too much wear on the upper hair to grade VF35. Coupled with all the crude on the back. This coin just doesn't have great visual appeal. If looking at it on ebay, I would pass for another one. I honestly would let it soak in acetone for a little while before putting it on ebay, or get it conserved.

I see it as VF-20 or -25.
Slight rim bump at 11 on the obverse and rim/edge deterioration at 2 to 3 on the obverse.
Slabbed it might be a Details coin.

VF-30 here. Might straight grade in a slab.

Looking at this one again, probably a bit generous. Reverse VF-35/XF-40 with the crud removed, but the obverse would pull this back a bit. Net VF-30/35.... still on the fence on a details grade.
