Jaobler Pillar of the Community United States 6384 Posts	Posted 11/21/2008 5:46 pm It looks like AU-55 detail to me, with only slight wear visible onLiberty's breast and thigh. There are a lot of small marks but there don't appear to be any hairlines from abrasive cleaning. Without seeing the coin in-hand I'd presume that the flat luster and lack of any toning suggests it has been dipped white. If the luster has not been damaged too badly a dipped coin can still "slab" at PCGS or NGC. There is a tiny dent above Liberty's head and what look like moderate contact marks between E and S of STATES and at the right edge of the reverse shield. These don't look severe enough to cause a grading rejection. I'd prefer a coin with a slightly more original "look", but this is a high-grade example and they aren't common. I certainly don't have one this nice! Report this Post to the Staff

I've a 1856-O Seated Half that I pulled from a bag of junk silver and it might grade G4 but it's almost too black to tell! ANA #R3154474 Report this Post to the Staff
