Won this one last week. (Someone else must have seen the clash as well.)
I had to get it in hand to make sure it wasn't a vise job or fake. Seems authentic with it in hand with the N (UNITED) being the strongest. Above the 1, the intersection of the T (CENT) seems present as well as some raised areas east of the brow and nose.

It appears to be a dual event on some of the clashing but that secondary part is hard to get to show up but in hand it is visible on the reverse well east of the C (CENT) .

It has fairly strong die flow lines so it's a pretty late die state.
Let me know any thoughts. PP55

Thanks and yes it does have both.
(Though the obv is stronger than any others I've seen on Wheats, Memorials, or Shields.)

Well, not to sure about that. I've seen many very strong clashes on those types.

US, that is Progressive Indirect Design Transfer, not a clash. And I'm willing to bet that is a San Francisco coin as most common on those.

Thanks CF. some days they turn out ok.

wholeheartedly with TB but yours is one of the strongest I've seen.

Any chance you have an image of the obv? Love to see how it might be affected as well or if it might have been changed out.

I've come across several of these PIDTs, but USSID, you have a very strong one.

Pretty nice die clash Pete! Haven't seen one on a wheatie before.

Yes, technically I guess you're right. I'm not an expert. I couldn't tell you how or why this happens. I'm thinking any device transferred to the opposite side of the coin would be considered a clash. Oh well. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks SilverCents, Zurie, Coop and Spence.

And thanks for the obverse image USSID18.
With the strength of the reverse of your coin, I was hoping some of the reverse design transfer might be on the obverse as well but I'm not seeing any.

For whatever it's worth, as I understand the differences, a clash can happen anytime, Early, Middle or Late Die State,
when the two dies actually collide.

It's a long fancy name I know, but Progressive Indirect Design Transfer happens in the later life of the die from the dies striking so many coins and the dies may not ever collide. I think of it more like metal fatigue or a type of Die Deterioration on the dies.
