That's a very cool coin. Wonder how long they pushed that die before it exploded? So the cracks. Did they effect the grade?

@Rob The cracks won't effect the grade. Only if the whole die starts to get mushy it can lower the grade. This coin would possibly grade higher but has a relatively dull luster. None of these cracks are listed and I'll possibly send some pictures to cudsoncoins. There's another crack that is hard to get in the picture that also goes to the rim. I drew a line parallel to it.

Looks like this die was real fresh, so it was probably retired very early in it short life. Note the channeling is still present on the coin.

Hey Will, Very spiffy coin indeed! But I am pretty sure that is LDB3456-1943-001. When I discovered that BIE I didn't have the greatest coin in the world so I didn't see most of the rest of the cracks, but looking at the images now I'm pretty sure I can see the die crack from the rim to the date as a marker. http://cuds-on-coins.com/ii-f-multi...f-die-break/

What gets me is that the die must have cracked fairly early in it's life otherwise you wouldn't have gotten a -66 for it.

Nice pick-up. The mint must have caught that one before the die broke away and caused a Cud, unless there is one listed.

Thanks guys and that'll Batts for the listing. @John1 this one set me back $40. The seller has at least one more listed and one I think is a minor variety DDO. Thickness on the date. As soon as I bought it they went up to $50. If you are interested in one of these let me know I'll post a link! And Batts you're right. The OP didn't notice the one spike heads or the rim to rim on that coin! You're saying you were the OP of that coin? Very cool

Hey folks I'm going through my coins and culling the heard. I came across this one today. I saw another wheat posted recently that got a new shattered die listing. My question being (with this one having a rim to rim crack a LIBER break and four spike heads). Do you think this would be a candidate for shattered die?

I would think it worthwhile to get some nice clear pics together and send to JC. There are so few shattered dies listed, it would be cool to have yours listed right after lawest's. Very nice coin, Will!

Well, it couldn't hurt much to try to get that listed.
