So. Most of us use sites like ebay or other auction sites to buy and sell our coins as they gain the most traffic and best prices. However there are some smaller sites, for example the one in this case is called *** Edited by Staff - It's in the bad word filter for a reason ***. I've used the site for a year or two at this point and overall have no complaints. 2% sellers fees, no sales tax, in all reality it's better than ebay. Except for one, small thing. Shady sellers. Like ebay 90% of sellers on that site are good people just selling coins, like CrazyB0, may he rest in peace, but sometimes, you run into the oddity. The antagonist of this story is a seller with the username of blade875. His account was created back in march and has 1 feedback, which is a negative. This is that feedback Quote: Did no honor the bid, states lost coin. Hmm. Ok. Well the guy got his refund at least. But why is that relevant? Because the guy went inactive on selling on the site up until a bit over a week or so ago. I bid on one of his item a classic head large cent, NGC VF-25 and won the item at minimum bid price for the whopping total of $200. For those of you who know about large cents, that should set off alarm bells. A VF-25 (in this case 1913) is easily a 4 figure coin, so $200 seems a bit low. So let's play a game of over under. What are the chances he "looses" the coin versus honoring the sale? Personally I think he's gonna cancel it, so I'll go under. Worse case scenario, he wastes my time, because he can't run with the money. I'd link the listing directly, but CCF blocks *** Edited by Staff - It's in the bad word filter for a reason *** due to some stuff in the past from my understanding. So what do you guys think? If he honors the sale I'll be quite happy. Edited by GrapeCollects 08/25/2020 03:47 am

@GC, that '66-D is an awesome find, but actually is pretty similar to the one I found the other day on the end of a roll of unsearched cents that I got from craig's list. See below for my 1966/5-D cent. I'm interested to see if the seller follows through with the sale.

The 6/5 looks good, but I believe the mint mark is a bit suspicious. Perhaps a Chinese fake!

That 1913 is a great coin if you get it for $200, but I suspect he'll cancel the sale. Is there decent buyer protection on that site?

He'll either cancel the sale or "lose" the coin. I would find it very hard to believe he will honor his commitment and lose that much on this coin.

Stranger things have happened in the world of coin collecting . I'll take a chance and say you'll be the proud owner of that coin .

@graoe, I am not sure why you are bothering. Will paypal refund you if things go sour, as expected?

Quote: You can take it to the bank that I'll be recording me opening it though you can never be to careful, but for what it is worth, no one accepts video tape proof, as it is too easy to doctor . if you paid through paypal , usually your word is good enough for an item that is not as described, the burden of proof goes back to the seller..
