Hi First I'm sorry for the quality of pictures. Fighting with how to use light properly and the light won this round I thought this was just Machine Doubling, but when I looked closer thought I saw a possible true doubled die and md. I've never posted but read the forums regularly and would really appreciate any input. Thanks so much!!

The date is a great example of MD, the motto looks to be DDD, and WE looks to have taken a hit. Not seeing any doubling. Edit: Good job on the pics!

@mjk, first welcome to CCF. Second, while I agree that this doesn't look like a doubled die, I am intrigued by what might be a die crack between Abe's head and the letter W of WE. Can you please add a better pic of this area to the thread? You might have a so-called spikehead.

with Spence. Looks indeed like a Spike Head, but better photos are needed. Classic Machine Doubling otherwise. p.s. I too agree, very good photos! to the CCF!

I hope this is the area. I have never heard of a spikehead but that's my next google search term On machine or master doubling, can there be doubled Machine Doubling? Hmmm, that isn't quite the right question. I mean can there be the original and than 2 master or Machine Doubling (s)? I see 3 impressions on the date, but I don't know if that's what they all look like for this year. I made some fancy arrows to try and explain it a little better. I got this from a unopened bank roll years ago and had forgotten about it, until I found it the other day. I hope it's ok to ask for opinions on a couple of those as well, in another thread. Thanks again.

Nice example of a small date '60 D, complete with MD and a die crack--and in great condition. Very 2x2 worthy.

mjkeaa to CCF! this looks like a normal coin to me. as far as the Machine Doubling, I think it is a lighting issue. first and last picture of the date with mintmark are just so different. been known to be wrong on more then one occasion .

It is a small date Denver cent with strong classic Machine Doubling and die wear show above the devices on the motto. Not a doubled die, not a RPM. Just a normal small date cent. (These are common on the Denver mints, about 50% of them that way) On the Philly small dates these were fewer in number and have a premium in BU grades.
